By Jasmine Linabary, Bigfork Eagle
When Bigfork Elementary School students come home excitedly talking about lions, heroes and downward-facing dogs, parents may think they are talking about characters from books.
However, what the kids are actually referring to are yoga poses they are learning this year as a way to keep them moving and teach them how to be still.
reprinted from The Fine Art of Teaching Yoga to Children by Pamela Hollander, M.A.
"In teaching yoga to children, we have the opportunity to share our knowledge of good health on every level. This gives them tools to increase their awareness and sensitivity, in turn developing their intellect and willpower. Teaching children respect for their bodies through the cleansing practice of yoga, we teach children how to stay receptive to the lessons of life."
